RSS Feed
Cherish Wicker02/06/2009Have you used an RSS feed before?
We just went live with RSS Feeds! Now you can receive information as we post it! Click on the RSS Feeds icon (bottom of homepage).
What is an RSS feed?
- The Simple Answer... An easy way to know about any new information being added to RanchoParent.com daily on things in our community ranging from events, reviews, parent chats, new classifieds posts and more. You view these short blurbs of information through your bookmark bar
- The Technical Answer... RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML-based format for sharing and distributing Web content, such as current news. Using an RSS reader, you can view data feeds from various news sources, such as ParentClick.com, including current events, summaries, and links to full stories.
How do you use it?
- If you select ALL Articles & Updates link, you will receive two posts from each category. Or perhaps you only want to receive notice when a new blog (calendar event, etc) is posted, then click on the Blogs (calendar) link, etc.
- This opens a new page: select where you want the feed to go (Bookmarks, Bloglines, My Yahoo*, Google*), then click on Subscribe. You will see a popup that asks you where you want it, on your browser toolbar or in your bookmarks dropdown menu. Once you choose this, you can click on your dropdown Bookmark/Favorites menu to view the actual feed.
- If you have a google (or aol or yahoo) homepage, you can click on the google button and it will place your feeds on that page.
